Appendix B - Implementation of Traceability Policy

One of the following methods of traceability must be implemented to support each type of measurement performed by the laboratory:

  • The laboratory submits a physical standard or test & measurement equipment directly to a national metrology institute (typically an ILAC signatory) and handles them per 5.6.3.

  • Calibrations, performed internal to the laboratory for its own use, uses instrumentation that has a calibration that is traceable to a national metrological institute.

  • Use an external calibration service that is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 and can demonstrate traceability.
